Emergent Jazz Mini Festival

Keith Pettigrew presents Digital Oceans from UNSW on Emergent Jazz on Saturday 15 August, 7pm.

Fine Music Sydney is committed to supporting Australian music and compositions, with a focus on the young.  This underpins the programming of Emergent Jazz on Saturday evenings, where there is a clear focus on the Jazz Programs at the Sydney Conservatorium and at the University of NSW.  These CoViD times have seen these campuses turned asunder, with remote learning leading to much improvising in course delivery, as well as of course in the very nature of jazz itself.

To celebrate not only student survival, but also musical excellence, [Emergent Jazz] is bringing a selection of works by the “on”campus jazz combos, jazz ensembles and jazz orchestra from the University of NSW.  You’ll hear a range of styles, from edgy, thru creative, to excellence in performance, punctuated with the student descriptions of their backstories.

The UNSW Jazz Performance Program is being driven by Sydney’s talented jazz royalty in Alister Spence and Sandy Evans, along with Adrian Lim-Klumpes and Ellen Kirkwood.

Drop by on Saturday 15th August at 7:00 pm to hear the next generation of jazz.

Listen in at 102.5FM, Fine Music on DAB+, or stream from FineMusicSydney.com.
